Bathroom Reno Checklist

When embarking on a bathroom renovation there are a few things you need to think about before getting started. Follow our guide below to get bathroom reno ready!

Whether you are revamping an existing bathroom or creating a brand new room, you will want something that mixes function and aesthetic – something that does what you and your family need it to do, and also reflects your personal style. There are many things to consider..

 

Firstly, decide on whether you are going to do up just one bathroom i.e. just the ensuite, or whether you would like to update them all to match.

 

Then start to think about every item of the bathroom and how you will be using it. Here's some helpful tips on what to consider in each area.

VANITY

The vanity can be a key feature in your bathroom, you need to think about the colour, configuration and size. • Size (mm) - think about depth, width and height • Finish/colour - if possible it's a good idea to match or compliment the colour scheme of your bathroom e.g tiles, wallpaper etc • Freestanding or wall hung • Number of basins - single or double bowl • Storage options - Number and configuration of drawers

TAPWARE

Tapware is a very important part of any bathroom, it brings everything together to create a cohesive feel. It's a great idea to have your basin and shower tapware matching or similar so that there is consistency in the bathroom. • Finish • Size - standard, tall or wall mounted • Pressure • Style - round, square or pin

BATH

A bath adds a bit of luxury to the bathroom, if you have a bathroom big enough to fit one you have a few things to consider: • Size (mm) • Freestanding or drop in • Material • Shape • Shower/bath combo • Bath tapware • Extra Functionality - spa, chromatheraphy, massage

TOILET

There are 4 key styles of toilet to choose from. • Wall hung (in wall cistern, with space between the bottom or the toilet and the floor) • Wall faced (in wall cistern, where the toilet suits sits flat on the floor) • Close coupled (traditional toilet suite design which is flat on the floor with space between the bowl and the wall) Back to wall (the toilet suite and cistern are flat against the wall) • Link Suites (the pan and the cistern are separate and usually connected by a link piece)

SHOWER

When deciding what type of shower you want, make sure you think about these things. • Size (mm) • Number of walls required • Acrylic shower or tiled shower • Finish • Storage • Shower tapware - Slide shower, column shower or rainhead

BASIN

There are a few things to think about when it comes to choosing a basin. Go through the features below to narrow down the right basin for your home: • Vessel, semi-recessed or wall hung • Tapware configuration and number of tapholes • Waste/bottle traps • Positioning of basin

MIRROR

HEATED TOWEL RAIL
